This 12-night Mediterranean Empires cruise aboard Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam was probably my best cruise, as it featured a beautiful ship with excellent food and service, along with a fantastic itinerary
We spent two nights in Dublin, Ireland at The Morrison Hotel. Highlights of our time there included the Guinness Storehouse, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Grafton Street, and the pubs of Dublin!
My first flight on Ryanair from Venice-Treviso to Dublin was marred by quite the ordeal checking in. Otherwise, Ryanair offers extremely low fares and a completely reasonable onboard product for a fantastic price.
Our cruise on Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam came to a close with a scenic entrance into Venice, followed by an overnight there, which enabled us to spend another full day in the magical city.
The highlight of our cruise on Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam was the day we spend in Santorini. This amazing island was probably the most picturesque place I’ve ever been. We then sailed to Argostoli, Cephalonia in the Ionian islands.
We spent two days in Istanbul, followed by Mitilini, Greece on the Island of Lesbos. The Nieuw Amsterdam then made her way to Kusadasi, Turkey where we explored the ancient city of Ephesus.
After sailing out of Venice, the first port of call on our “Mediterranean Empires” cruise on Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam was Katakolon, Greece followed by Piraeus (Athens), Greece…
We cruised on Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam on a 12-night Mediterranean Empires cruise in the ship’s largest suite – the Pinnacle Suite. Sailing aboard the largest suite on Holland America’s newest and largest trip for twelve nights was certainly a treat.
We stayed for two nights at the Boscolo Venezia in the Carranegio neighborhood of Venice. We found the hotel to be an excellent property — particularly the garden patio villas. We enjoyed the location, and feel that this is a good use of Marriott points considering the high price of hotels in the area.
